JDate's New Look
A friend tipped me off--JDate's changing, relaunching soon with a new interface and new features, including a magazine. You heard it here, folks...
Check out their teaser...and pay attention to the spelling in Elena's profile.
Believe me, it's a good ting they're being so up front about the fact that most of the profiles will have spelling errors in them...
And does anyone think the music sounds a little bit, um, porny? (Not that I'd know what that sounds like...)

It's a bit schizo...They fix the typo later in the teaser. The chickie is first listed as "last login: over 60 days ago," but later is "last login: today." She's from the modeling shoot, I think. They have a group photo from one of the modeling shoots, but I don't think it was anyone from my shoot.
Elena363 is actually a real person with a real profile: http://www.jdate.com/default.asp?p=7070&MemberID=8657116 . In the real profile, the spelling was fixed. Sometimes it really _is_ the membership.
You're right, music is kind of boom, boom porny.
Single men used to go to strip joints and listen to comedians. Now they read JDate profiles.
I suspect that people misspell deliberately, to show they don't sweat the small stuff. It's kool.
anonymous #1 - the modeling shoot was made up of actual JDate members. (I'm a professional math geek, very much NOT a professional model!!)
Hey. Does Deb referred me to your blog. Enjoyed very much.... Have some jdate comments in mine for your amusement if you are interested.

Boom chica bow wow I forsee problems with this layout
I'm a graphic designer and I would have started over again from scratch interesting to see the same colors show up with a match.com type feel.

I don't think a new look will change the amount of guys in their 40's who contatc me hoping for a chance.
You know, Ting is also a Jamaican grapefruit-flavored soda. It's not bad, and it's really fun to say. Ting! Ting! Ting!
Ah yes. I'm sure she meant "Jamaican grapefruit soda drink." Ting. Sounds like Tang. Tastes like Fresca...
Hey Chavaleh, welcome! There's no real table of contents, but feel free to use the search bar to search for topics that interest you...or write me and ask about the topics that interest you. I'll let you know if they're here, or if they're on the "development slate" for the future!
Come back again soon!
All these new features but still no ability to perform a decent search!!! With so many people J*Date has become nothing more than a crowded bar - finding ideal matches is near impossible. Why do they force people to open a profile to find out a person is "high maintenance" or is "rarely active" or whatever turns you off. Tell them... info@spark.net
Jdate is a scam; any service that doesn't tell you who is a member and who is just window shopping is for the birds (for the record, Match does this as well). I did a poll recently of a bunch of guys 30+ at a J Singles event, and most had sent over 100 or so emails with 1 or 2 responses, while women sat back and collected those 100 or so emails and only responded to 3 or 4.
Most guys felt ripped off when their email box on Jdate reported only about 45% of emails actually read (meaning that the other 55% were sent to non-members who cannot have access to email because they don't pay the outrageous fees every month).
I'm sorry, but women should be paying for these services, not men. Chances are far greater that they will meet a man than vice versa.
BTW, Craig's List is no better; I posted a fake ad with an average looking, but cute blonde woman's photo I found on hotornot.com, and I gave her a couple of chinsy paragraphs about finishing grad school, and looking for love, etc. Within 14 hours, I had 98 responses in my mailbox (all original, no spam), and 54 of them with tasteful, non-sexual photos attached. I then tried the same exact ad with a handsome male found on the same web site with the exact same wording in the post (modified for gender), and received 6 responses in 7 days, 2 of which were Russian bride or identity theft come-ons (guys, you've seen these - they usually come with a yahoo link provided, and never any info on the actual yahoo site).
So, women should feel very lucky that this works for them - guys need a more level playing field and have a far greater challenge finding the right one. This sucks, but this is the way it is.
I can't say I disagree with Anonymous about the etiquette of not responding to emails, but everyone does it, not just women. I was very proactive when I was online, and very seldom did any of the men write me back, so I don't think that the women are profiting more than the men from this arrangement. And while I know a few guys who are single, I know MANY more women who are single and looking. So I'm not sure I can fully agree with you...
But I feel your pain, for sure.
If you know lots of women who are single, I'll bet that many of them are not on dating sites. I, too, have female friends who are single, but the stigma is simply too great for them to plunge into online dating. It seems the culture must change so that we begin to see more even ratios of women to men in the online dating space. - Jim (Anonymous)
It's very simple... The female social stigma of online dating still exists. Men will have a hard time finding decent women on dating sites. Guys, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way. First, look for that little icon on your computer that says "Shutdown"... know where I'm going with this? (By the way, Jdate is a scam, if you haven't already figured it out)
I hate JDate. I've been an on and off member for a while and I am sick of their cheesy promos for club-med or sky-diving or some goofy cruise. Who is this site really for? Let's be honest: there's the hookup and then there is the get married now group.
Honestly, what I am looking for is a jewish/any human dating site for people who have baggage, watch bad tv, like red meat, not breeders, artistic and not so serious. And sad. JDate is sad.
JDate is sad.
Jdate is just a glorified Chat Room . It is designed to make you pay every month . But you will get nothing in return . Pictures of Sexy women you will never meet . A jewish website with non jews . Its more like a Hollywood casting couch .
The idea is to meet some one . I dont think it will get many new customers . They plan to sell it . I would sell it now ?
